Content:  This is not an African species: Alydus scaber Thunberg is either not from South Africa or not a synonym of Coreus scabrator Fabricius. The record from Réunion (Stål, 1873) needs confirmation. Records of Acanthocoris scabrator (Fabricius) from China are possibly erroneous and referable to Acanthocoris scaber (Linnaeus) if the two species are truly distinct. Crinocerus scabripes Herrich-Schaeffer may enter into the synonymy of the latter.
