Scrutiny:
Dolling, 2013, In the type data, Dancal refers to Dancalia, in Eritrea, and Tandaho is a locality in Harrar, Ethiopia. It is not clear which locality refers to the HT and which to the AT. See Mancini, 1953b, 1954a, 1961, 1962a for records of Dicranocephalus testaceus including, apparently, some of Moulet’s type series of D. hirsutus.
Type specimen information:
Type locality: Africa, Northeast Tropical Africa, Ethiopia, Denakil (as Dancal), Tendaho (as Tandaho)
Kind of type: holotype
Specimen category: Male
Location of type: MCSN Genoa
